Nook Privacy Policy

Nook is a personal library for links and photos you choose to keep. This policy explains what Nook collects, why it is used, and how you can control it.

Information We Collect

• Account information: Apple sign-in identifiers, email address if Apple shares it, the name you provide in Nook, and an optional profile image if you add one.
• Demographic information: birthday and gender if you provide them during onboarding.
• Saved content: URLs you save, preview metadata, notes, reason tags, timing tags, echo dates, and related AI-generated labels or summaries.
• Saved photos: photos you choose from your library or take with the camera, along with visual descriptions, visible text, classifications, and other AI-generated details used to organize and search the photo. Nook removes embedded image metadata such as location before cloud upload.
• Profile image: if you choose an account image, Nook stores it with your account so it can appear when you sign in again or use Nook on another device.
• Search and AI requests: search text, saved-link context, page text, URLs, and notes may be sent to Nook's backend so the app can generate summaries, labels, and search results.
• Diagnostics and service logs: app and backend logs may include request metadata, errors, crash and performance data, usage counters, device/app context, IP address, and timestamps needed to operate and secure the service.
• Clipboard URLs: Nook checks for a copied URL on-device. A URL is saved only if you choose to save it.

How We Use Information

We use information to provide Nook's core features: saving links and photos, creating previews, understanding and organizing the content you choose to save, syncing your library and profile image, searching your saves, finding related products when appropriate, creating reminders, providing support, preventing abuse, improving reliability, and understanding the audience using Nook.

AI Processing

Nook uses backend AI services to create summaries, labels, visual descriptions, classifications, and search results. When you save a photo, a normalized copy may be processed by these services so Nook can understand its visible content and, when appropriate, find related products. Nook does not use your saved content, notes, photos, or searches to train AI models. API keys stay on the backend.

Service Providers

Nook uses service providers for sign in, cloud storage, AI features, map previews, diagnostics, hosting, security, and support. They process data only as needed to provide those services to Nook.

Selling, Ads, and Tracking

Nook does not sell personal data. Nook does not share personal data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking. Nook does not use the iOS advertising identifier.

Retention and Deletion

Local data stays on your device until you delete it or delete the app. Synced account data and private saved-photo files are kept until you delete items or delete your account. Settings includes account deletion, which removes account data and saved-photo files from Nook's cloud storage and clears local Nook data and photo copies from the device.

Your Choices

You can copy a local JSON export to your clipboard, sign out, delete saved items, delete your account in Settings, and manage app permissions such as notifications in iOS Settings. You can request access, correction, deletion, portability, or other privacy help by emailing [email protected].
